Gear up for Earth Day – EE Week April 15 – 21

Are you and your kids (either at home or at school!) doing something to celebrate Earth Day? Why not extend those activities to last for longer? Why not join other teachers, parents, educators, schools and organizations all over the country in the National Environmental Education Foundations, National Environmental Education Week.

You can register for EE Week 2012 here. The list of benefits, available resources and opportunities for your school or organization when you register is quite impressive!

The theme this year for EE Week 2012 is Greening STEM: The Environment as Inspiration for 21st Century Learning and there are so many ways you can participate!

Simply find a photo of hands on environmental education happening at your school or facility, send in here with blog text that explains the great work that is happening in the photo! Read all the details and rules here. The top three winners will win a digital camera and be featured on the EE Week site!!

Let your kids have a hands on, digital, way of determining the wildlife that they encounter in their schoolyard! Plus they can check out what other students are finding in their area or in other parts of the world. How cool is that?

  • Get more professional development in EE with the EPA’s EE in Action Webinars to better your abilities to work with kids of all ages!

There are three webinars to choose from and you can read more about each of them on a previous WAEE post or check out the site.

  • Read up on some environmental education success stories from around the country.

Or you can contribute one of your own! Simply email your story to EEWeek@neefusa.org

So GO! Get registered! And get yourself and your kids involved in some of these awesome projects that are happening across the country.
